Athletes Foot (Tinea Pedis), is a fungal infection of the skin in the area between the toes (the webs) and, if not brought under control, can eat away and degrade the toenails. Tinea can also affect the fingernails and skin of the hands. More often than not this complaint is caused by excluding air by wearing boots - including riding boots, or full shoes with socks made from man made fibres. Many people who perspire freely suffer from Athletes Foot. Not only should you control this complaint but you should also wear natural cotton socks as these can be washed at temperatures above 50C. The fungal spores that cause Tinea Pedis will NOT be killed on man made fibres washed in a "cool" wash. You should also use Tinea Pedis talcum powder (from the Pharmacy) and sprinkle this in both socks and footwear. The spores will live in the material of the inside of the shoe or trainer. Trainers should be washed in a hot wash (50C or above). Our Athletes Foot Balm has been helping customers for over 25 years. Buy it with confidence!
